A purine catabolic enzyme ubiquitous in mammalian tissue which catalyzes deamination of both adenosine and 2’-deoxyadenosine to inosine and 2’-deoxyinosine respectively. Supplied as a chromatographically puried, dialyzed, lyophilized powder. Prepared by a modification of the method of Pfrogner, Arch. Biochim. Biophys., 119, 141 (1967).Unit Definition:One unit converts one micromole of adenosin to inosine per minute at 25°C, pH7.4.
